Social Commitment

We strive to foster a culture that prioritizes health and safety, thrives on inclusion and belonging, supports our communities, and actively engages our employees.

At Metallus, our commitment to fostering an engaged workforce is reflected in four key areas: health and safety; inclusion and belonging; community impact; and employee engagement. We prioritize the health and safety of our workforce, ensuring a secure working environment that empowers every individual to thrive. Our commitment to equity is deeply rooted in cultivating an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse perspectives and talents. We actively engage with our communities through impactful philanthropic initiatives and partnerships, aiming to create positive change. Moreover, we invest in employee engagement to foster a culture of collaboration, growth, and empowerment.

Health and safety is our top priority, every day.

A safe and healthy workplace is the foundation of a responsible, thriving organization. Through comprehensive safety protocols, dynamic training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives, we foster a culture of vigilance and responsibility where everyone feels secure, supported, and empowered.

2024 Sustainability Update

The “People” section of our latest sustainability report contains more information about the commitments we make to our employees and to our communities.

Health and Safety by the Numbers

Our global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Policy guides our approach to safety. We are committed to continuously improving our EHS performance by fostering cooperation among employees, company leaders, and government. Every Metallus employee and contractor is responsible for understanding and supporting the policy. We reinforce this responsibility by requiring regular education, training, and evaluation.

Inclusion and Belonging

Creating an engaged culture

With inclusive workplace policies designed to strengthen our reputation as an employer of choice, our commitment to inclusion and belonging runs through every aspect of our organization. We have an advisory council comprised of Metallus’ senior leaders that promotes awareness, training, and leveraging all perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to make a positive impact within the company and our communities.

Community Impact

Committed to community engagement

We take a holistic approach and strive to understand and respond to the unique needs of our communities. Our efforts include employee volunteer programs, donations of resources and financial support, corporate sponsorships, and engaging in board service.

We believe in empowering young individuals in our communities to unlock their highest potential and invest in educational initiatives to cultivate a strong pipeline of professionals who can contribute to both our industry and the local economies in which we operate. Through these initiatives, we are committed to making a lasting positive impact on the communities we serve, strengthening our bonds and contributing to their growth and prosperity.

Case Studies

  • Canton Carnival of Wheels

Metallus employees were among those who entered cars in the Canton Carnival of Wheels, an annual charity event showcasing over 500 wheeled vehicles. Supported by our volunteers, the event raised funds for scholarships in Stark State College’s Automotive Program.

  • Habitat for Humanity

Over the last few years, we have engaged with our local Habitat for Humanity chapter, allowing employees to volunteer for a day at a local home under construction for a family in need. Recent projects have included raising exterior walls and painting the inside of a nearly completed home.

  • American Heart Association

Nine teams from Metallus came together with family and friends to support the American Heart Association’s annual Stark County Heart Walk.
